Hossein Irandoust ‘Spiritual Dance Volume II’ in Dubai at Pro Art Gallery, showcased select artworks by Iranian painter Hossein Irandoust.
As with many young painters, Irandoust experimented with many styles and various mediums. He has evolved from painting in the realist style to what has now become more of his own unique genre; a combination of minimalism based on his attraction towards his grandfather’s Chinese culture and the simplicity of the mystical philosophy of renowned Persian poets and philosophers. The conversions of these diverse yet similar ancient ideological movements are clearly apparent in Irandoust’s latest Darvish series.
Some of Irandoust’s works have been executed by use of a continuous movement of a knife or paintbrush and some through several continuous steps and layers of medium. The artist also makes use of other visual characteristics such as seals that are derived from important elements of composition. Many of these seals have different meanings, some of which are merely the painter’s name while others are metaphoric references to mystical and philosophical concepts.

Pro Art Gallery, the gallery that celebrates innovative art and collectibles, is currently holding an exhibition titled ‘Prints & Multiples’, located at Palm Strip Shopping Mall on Jumeirah Beach Road, Jumeirah 1. The exhibition, will showcase the artworks of over 30 international artists and will focus attention on the impulse of printmaking and features works which are opinionated and fun. The exhibition will run from April 24 to May 11, 2013.
Pro Art Gallery has been building an impressive collection and this exhibition offers collectors and art connoisseurs an opportunity to view these master pieces since the gallery acquired them. The exhibition is divided into four distinct styles: Classic, Contemporary, Urban Art and Chinese Art, and explores the development of prints and multiples from the classic to the current day, tracking the rise of an art form that lies at the core of contemporary art practice.
Until the 1960s prints and multiples had primarily been viewed as an adjunct activity to the more ‘important’ mediums such as painting and sculpture. However there was a major shift in the hierarchy, following the development of Pop art in the 1960s and the experimentation with process and institutional critique that came with it.
The diversity in art is evident in the range of works that are on display by some of the most influential Artists of the 20th century. Editions features Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein , Sir Peter Blake, Damien Hirst, Raza, Victor Vasarely, Takashi Murakami, signed prints by Alberto Giacometti, limited editions by Julian Opie, prints by Chinese artists Yue Minjun and Zhang Xiaogang , works by the legendary Street Artists Banksy and Blek Le Rat, and the more recent Mr.Brainwash. The great Masters are also on show by way of Dali, Braque, Picasso, Buffet and Chagall.

Bloomingdale’s-Dubai has collaborated with award-winning New York-based designer and Italian architect, Antonio Pio Saracino to create an exclusive installation entitled ‘City Within’.
Composed of multiple hanging lightweight translucent polycarbonate sheets that create the shape of a box and conveys the idea of an ephemeral city versus the physical city, the ‘City Within’ installation is the metaphor of the contemporary digital city that is not made with a tangible space. The empty space inside the installation is originated from carving out the shape of a dimensional city landscape and presents a visual experience for visitors that pass by or those that wish to engage by sitting on cubes placed inside the installation. The many surfaces composing the installation display images, information and content that inspire visitors from all over the world with creativity. With its design, the ‘City Within’ installation becomes a portal from Bloomingdale’s-Dubai and Design Days Dubai to the world.
In addition to the installation project, the Italian-born architect will exhibit a hand-picked selection of his original pieces and premiere 7 new pieces from his highly anticipated ‘Star’ collection at Bloomingdale’s Home-Dubai. Made in Italy and Saracino’s first commercial collection, the ‘Star’ collection is an exploration of the Star morphology applied into a chair and a coffee table. The points of the star extend from a core and become the legs, the seat, the back and the arms of the chair. The thin aluminum sheet is bent to strengthen the star section and it is hand welded and polished. The chairs are available in different colours and with an optional leather cushion. Available in various colours, the Star coffee table is built with eight rays that build a dimensional star holding a glass tabletop.
The ‘City Within’ installation will be open to the public from March 17, 2013 through April 16, 2013, exclusively at Bloomingdale’s Home-Dubai, The Dubai Mall.
