La Tablita Mexican Restaurant at Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights is all about authentic Mexican cuisine.
What’s the restaurant like?
The restaurant is spacious with an open kitchen. It has two-level seating options, where one is located near the sprawling bar. There’s a blackboard sort of a wall panel where all things Mexican are written. The décor also has Mexican hats on display and there’s a Spanish singer singing live most of the nights.
What’s the menu like?
We were expecting Burritos, chimichangas and all the tex-mex food we are so used to in Dubai. We were pleasantly surprised with soft tacos, dry tortillas, enchiladas and other true Mexican style food on offer.
We started with regular nachos accompanied by 3 varieties of sauces from mild, medium and spicy variations. Guacamole was also served, which was fresh and delicious.
Then came a barrage of tacos and ceviches to sample. From Chicken tacos with chipotle, beef – avocado – cream cheese to Panner salas verde taco, we had a mix of flavours and each one better than the other.
For the main course we had Chicken and veg enchiladas that were creamy and yummy.
The drinks offered are quite unique as well with Jalapeno margarita and a blue coloured double portion frozen margarita -Blue Demon. There’s also a drink with Tabasco sauce, salt and beer poured in the glass, which definitely needs an acquired taste.
How was the food?
The tacos and ceviche’s were great with a different kind of sauce accompanying each one.We particularly like the tacos, dried Tortillas and ceviche’s. The Enchilada was creamy but the taste was not as exquisite as the starters. The dessert was worth waiting for – we tried the churros and Tres Leches cake.
The restaurant has true Mexican taste. There were plenty of Tacos on offer and a huge variety of vegetarian options as well. We would definitely recommend the Tacos priced at AED15 per portion. Try a few with your choice of meat or veggies. We loved the paneer taco and the fish/squid taco as well.
Do not step out of the restaurant without having the Tres Leches cake – it’s the best in town.
The staff is friendly and the vibe is great. The food is authentic Mexican which makes it a favourite spot to go to, this side of the city.
