We went with one of our viewers who is taking up the 9-week body transformation challenge, which we will be following.
We found the workout intense and quite exhausting as we had never kickboxed or tried this kind of an exercise routine.
We will be following Mehul’s journey through videos, so keep coming back.
Being a sports enthusiast, I have always wanted to try paddle boarding.
I finally got a chance to do a class with Dukite in Dubai. We started at 7am at Jumeirah Fishing harbour.
My instructor Nic Muhl explained some stuff about the inflatable board, its size, where is the handle, proper place to stand and gave some instructions on how tall the paddle should be and how to hold it for the perfect technique.
After the 10 minute theory, we pushed the paddles into the water. I got on to it and was kneeling and paddling for a bit, before I attempted to stand. And stand I did, without falling.

It was then testing my paddling skills and trying to turn, paddle and go far and wide. There were no major waves, so I was standing throughout the session.
In the 45 minute session, I learnt how to stand properly, where to put my weight, how to turn and paddle fast. While, paddling, saw some fish including a number of jelly fish.
It was a full body workout, as you are using your legs and hands and keeping your weight in the right direction.
Though it was still very hot in the morning, the spot is beautiful to do paddle boarding. You get to see the Burj Al Arab and Burj Khalifa in the distance.
I am definitely going back to do this. Looks like I am going to get addicted.
Deliveroo and Barry’s Bootcamp Dubai teamed up to help achieve the ultimate summer body.
It was an afternoon of workout, food and perfect hair.
We started with the bootcamp class which was intense and fun. From running, squats, lunges to jumps, it was a full body workout and we all came out sweating and tired.
We were then offered some super nutritious, healthy and delicious food by Deliveroo. Black lemonade, juices, energy balls to salads, we had it all.
And then there Blowout and Go stylists ready with their wands to make our hair perfect. My hair was braided, while others got some hairdos done.
It was a truly healthy and active afternoon.
There are various types of yoga and yoga instructors. We tried the one at Mad About Dance Studio in Dubai.
The first of the eight classes in the workshop was all about technique and easing into the world of yoga.
The instructor, Sucheta, started by asking if we had any issues with any body parts or injuries. Once all was clear, we concentrated on the breathing technique and learnt how to breathe right.
Slowly and steadily we tried out a few basic yoga poses that were not very tough. The one-hour session made our body relaxed and thoroughly stretched.
The class also corrected my posture, though I need to make a conscious decision to keep that in mind when not in a yoga class.
Yoga certainly helps a lot in leading a healthier lifestyle and I am surely looking forward to having a better posture and learning to breathe right.
We are not that much into gyming but definitely into trying different fitness programmes.
So when we heard about the newest spinning studio hitting the city of Dubai, we promptly tried the 7am sprint class at Cadence Theory. What we didn’t know was the sprint class is hard core fitness.
We reached about 7 minutes late and while we were apologetic to start out late, frankly speaking, it was quite relieving that we had to only do 20 minutes of this tough workout.
The studio has black walls and has funky murals painted on it, with a giant cinema-sized screen, a sound system fit for a night club and 32 bikes.
The bikes are super hi-tech and you get your shoes from the reception, that fit onto the bike. We thought that was pretty awesome.
The instructor takes you through the class with some great music. He even comes down to each one and pumps them up to go higher and faster.
There are towels and water bottles on each bike as well.
We enjoyed the workout, however, we would start with a regular 45-minute class to begin with, unless of course you have been spinning for some time.
The first ride won’t cost you a single dirham at Cadence Theory.
The studio offers the hottest global spin craze, Les Mills Virtual, Cadence Theory sees the world-leading 30 and 45 minute RPM programme.
There are 15 classes on offer every week to suit hectic schedules, virtual sessions are priced at AED 60.
For those who prefer a physical in-house instructor, cyclists at Cadence Theory can join one of six different classes (14 throughout the week) from early early morning to late night.
Classes include Sunday night Hip Hop Cycle and Monday and Thursday Club Life (think 45 minutes of constant TUNES), as well as high energy and head-to- toe Sound Theory and RIDE.
The latest Technogym bikes, MyWellness fitness tracking iPhone and Android app, which shares weekly health and fitness reports directly with members, and industry pioneering SCOTT spin shoes are also available free of charge to all cyclists.
Regular classes are priced at AED120, with non-expiring value packages on offer at www.cadencetheory.com
Another fitness revolution comes to Dubai – PRAMA is a functional training system based on spatial references on the floor and walls bringing fitness to life with lights, sound and sensors.
It is a high-intensity, circuit-based workout that claims to quickly improve muscle memory, endurance, strength, balance, speed, agility, reaction time and overall fitness.
The workout provides complete strength and cardio conditioning, burning up to 1,000 calories in just one 45-minute session.
PRAMA by Pavigym at The Fairmont Palm Dubai, is functional training via LED enriched stations with pressure sensitive walls and floors and a variety of lighting options.
We were dead tired after our 40-minute session with 7 stations covering a full body workout.
The trainers control the workouts and are there to help you.
The dark exercise area with flashy lights and circuits involving chasing lights with a ball or running on them, made the workout interesting and fun.
The lights on the floors and walls of the gym are controlled and can be adjusted to fit varying fitness and activity levels.
This class can be attended by all age groups and at all levels. I am sure it’ll be quite a hit with kids as the lights make it special.
PRAMA by Pavigym sessions can be made on Palm.Healthclub@Fairmont.com or 04/ 457 3330
L’Atelier Aquafitness in Dubai offers aquabiking sessions, on the hour, every hour, seven days a week.
We tried the 7am class. We had to wear lycra active wear and special shoes for the water.
The instructor showed us how too set the bike’s seat, handle and intensity levels outside the water.
We then plunged in, adjusted the aquabike and were ready to start spinning. The instructor showed us four biking positions and we set out for the workout.
After 10 minutes or so, we were huffing and puffing, and realised, its quite intense to bike in water.
There were some exercises that were off the bike and some upper-body movement like swimming.
After the 45 minute session, we were all sweating and had a good start to the day.
A unique workout option if you don’t like the gym.

There a number of workouts available in today’s world. From pilates, yoga, cross fit, circuit training, kick boxing to personal training. There are ample options to get on the fitness path.
We tried the Cross Cuit class, which is a hybrid between Cross Fit and Circuit Training at A Tone Fitness Lounge.
There were 6 people including me in the studio, of all levels. There were exercises written on a board to be followed for 40 seconds to a minute. The final challenge was for 6 minutes, where a number of reps of different exercises had to be done.
Initially I had a lot of energy, so tried to match up with the pros in the room. But slowly and steadily, my aim turned to doing the exercise the right way rather than doing it as many times.
The music was heart pumping and the instructor keeps a tab on the exercises. However, the studio was a bit cramped for some of the exercises.
I did manage to last the hour long session. It was definitely a good workout, as my body and muscles were sore for the next 3 days.
If you like a hard core workout then Cross Cuit is for you.
