Henna has been traditionally used in many parts of the world for celebration purposes. Just before Eid, women in the UAE adorn their hands with the natural dye. But even henna is prone to trends.
Henna artist Simona, from Dubai’s SOH Art+Beauty, says this year’s trend is edgy.
“We are seeing fashionable designs with a modern twist. It’s giving an edge to the tradition,” she adds.
Another trend this season is dark and white henna.
Here’s a video of the designs:
“White henna is mostly suited for special occasions and sits on top of the skin and is more prone to come off sooner than the regular henna that lasts up to seven days.”
She also explained how regular back and front of the hand are not the only places for designs. It’s all mixed up now from only the wrists to a combination of wrists and fingers.
“We can place designs on the side of the hand making it go in the front and the back or just do the fingers.”
